Deirdre Ní Chinnéide's Music
Celtic Passage presents the North American debut of this passionate vocalist, embracing the energy of the wholly empowered feminine through a rich soundscape of moving verse, raw emotion, and traditional arrangements that are at once ethereal and grounding.

Celtic Passage
Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands on the West Coast of Ireland, and a place steeped in Celtic Heritage, was the inspirational place where Celtic Passage was written connecting us to the power of the Celtic world.
The Celts believed in the existence of other worlds known as the Land of the Sí (spirit). The Druid or Shaman would travel to these other worlds at will and return with insight into problems and challenges of everyday life.
You are invited on this adventure, an odyssey through this other world. Celtic Passage calls us to remember, to return to the natural rhythms that connect us to a deeper and more joyful experience of life.
It is a musical journey of relationship - to self, to others and to the wisdom of our Celtic ancestors, exploring themes of life and death, the earth and nature, the savagery of war, the redemption of love and ultimately the splendor of creation.
It is the sound of Sunda that calls us home , to the seasons of our own heart.
With harp, fiddle, flute, bodhran and more, Celtic Passage is a musical journey to the land of the Spirit, a bold trek to the heart of this ancient tradition.

Summer 2008 sees the launch of an exciting new stage show on the Aran Islands called Celtic Passage. The very best of music, song and dance is on offer in this exciting new performance which links to the depths and traditions of these islands.
Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran islands on the west coast of Ireland, was the inspirational place where Celtic Passage was written, a musical journey connecting us to the power of the Celtic world.
Following the huge success of the release of this album in Ireland and the United States, in May 2007 its composer Deirdre Ni Chinneide has put together a stage performance that both entertains and informs the audience, opening them to an experience of the mystery of the Celtic heritage of the islands, in an unique and magical way.
Entering the auditorium, the audience step in through the walls of a passageway settling in for a time journey that will bring them to a forgotten land. The Celts believed in the existence of other worlds known as the land of the Sí (spirit). The Druid would travel to these other worlds at will and return with insight into problems and challenges of everyday life.
Visitors to Inis Mor leave behind the hustle and bustle of home and city life when they cross the water that separates the island from the mainland and for many the attraction to the island is this sense of difference and time away from it all!
Celtic Passage invites the audience on an adventure, an odyssey through this other world, to the haunting sounds of music and song that somehow remind us of our link and connection to the spirit of the celtic world.
Our hostess, Deirdre guides us through the four sections of the performance based on the seasonal cycles of the Celtic year. Samhain- Winter, Imbolg –Spring, Bealtiane- Summer and Lughanasa- Autumn.
She is accompanied by traditional musicians of the highest calibre that blend both classical and traditional songs and melodies in such a way that the airs still ring in the ears of the listener long after the performance has ceased.
The performance is supported by a multi media presentation of the important sites and scenes of the island, giving the audience a glimpse of the ancient and the new, the sacred and profane and an entry through image, to the very heart of this beautiful island.
Celtic ~Passage is a musical tour of incredible beauty. To visit the island and to hear this sound would offer any visitor the mystical journey of a lifetime .
